Ribbon Cuttings are primarily for announcing new businesses but can also be used to celebrate events such as significant name changes, new locations, renovations, or milestone anniversaries. The Greater Travelers Rest Chamber of Commerce hosts ribbon cuttings on the first Tuesday or fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm. These times allow city officials, city council members and other elected officials to attend without conflicting with other scheduled meetings.
Ribbon cutting ceremonies typically last 30 minutes. We suggest planning your ribbon cutting at least 3-4 weeks out, to allow for ample promotion time. To schedule your ribbon cutting, please fill out the form below. For more information, please contact greatertrchamber@gmail.com
GTRCC will
- Invite our BOD, membership and local dignitaries/city officials via email blast and social media platforms.
- Provide ribbon, scissors and GTRCC signage.
- A GTRCC representative will say a few words, introduce dignitaries and invite them to also speak before the ribbon is cut.
- Post pictures of the event on our social media platforms and in the newsletter.
Make the most of your event
- Send invitations to friends, family, colleagues, clients.
- Provide snacks and beverages.
- Prepare to say a few words before the ribbon is cut.
- Hire a photographer or have someone designated to take pics.
- Invite the press
- Provide live music, face painting, bouncy house, etc.
- Toast with champagne
- Do a press release after the event.
- Have a plaque made with your ribbon.
